FAQs - spraying a kitchen
We know you’re bound to have at least a dozen questions about spraying kitchens, such as how much does it cost, how long will it take, what colours can I have, will there be a lot of mess, etc., etc.
Well all these (and a lot more) are covered in our list of FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions). If the answer to your question isn’t here, call us and we’ll do our best to put your mind at rest on 051 345 6728.
Absolutely! Respraying kitchens is a booming industry. Tens of thousands of households are taking advantage every year of high-tech spray guns and specialist paint which will have their kitchen looking brand new at a fraction of the cost of replacing it, saving themselves thousands of pounds.
First, you’ll save thousands of pounds compared to the cost of replacement. Second, it’s much more environmentally-friendly than chucking your existing cabinets, drawers and doors on to a landfill. Third, it will give your whole property a more modern look and make it easier to sell. And fourth, the whole process can usually be done in about two days, saving you a lot of hassle, disruption and several days without a functioning kitchen. It’s the economical and hassle-free option.

“How much does spraying kitchens cost?” is one of the most common FAQs. Obviously it depends on the number of doors, drawers, cabinets and plinths to be sprayed, whether the cabinet interiors are going to be matched and if your windows and door are being sprayed as well. We’d have to see your kitchen to give you an exact quote, but the cost ranges between £600 and £1500, with most ‘normal’-sized kitchens costing around £800.Click here to see a pricing guide and examples of costs for small, average and large kitchens.
Contact us for a no-obligation quote. And don’t worry, we have a strict policy of non-harassment; we won’t hound you every five minutes asking you if you want us to do the job.

We’d draw the line at working Christmas Day, but working on a Saturday or Sunday is no problem for us if they’re the only days that suit you. And what’s more, we won’t charge you any extra!
There shouldn’t be. Our sprayers are fastidious and will remove or cover any furniture and mask anything that doesn’t need spraying, including the floor. We remove the doors (not everybody does), spray them in a small, portable spray booth and use an extractor fan to completely remove any dust or overspray. After the job’s finished our sprayers will clean up everything and remove all rubbish, including all masking materials. You won’t be able to tell we’ve been in your house (apart from the incredible, fantastic-looking kitchen, of course!).
Obviously it depends on the size of the job. Some small kitchens can be done in a day, but most ‘normal’-sized kitchens will be completed in two days. We appreciate that having the kitchen sprayed disrupts your household and we aim to keep the time taken to an absolute minimum. If we haven’t completed the job by the end of a normal working day and you’re OK with it, we’ll stay on site and keep working until the job’s finished, at no extra charge to you. That way we’ll minimise the disruption to your household and get your kitchen fully functioning as quickly as possible.
Please note that some companies will take your doors off-site to their workshop for spraying half a dozen coats in a ‘temperature-controlled’ booth and to be baked in a special kiln, quoting between 2 and even 10 days(!), but that can sometimes just be an excuse to bump up the price. None of it is necessary, it really doesn’t need to take that long and it adds nothing to the finish. Today’s high-tech speciality paints are designed to need no more than two coats. Anything more and you’re simply wasting both money and time, although some companies will try to persuade you otherwise. Watch this video to see the pitfalls to avoid when getting a quote.
“How long will spraying a kitchen last?” is probably the #2 FAQ.
It really depends on who you use. A booming market attracts a lot of cowboys, some of whom will skip sanding and simply use a cheap plastic UPVC paint you can buy over the counter in a DIY store. Sure, it will look fine immediately it’s been applied, but after a couple of years’ exposure to the elements it will crack and fade. Our paint has a special hardening agent which is vital for a high-traffic, heavy-use environment like a kitchen. Providing the doors are treated normally, the paint will last the lifetime of the kitchen.
Our paint supplier guarantees their product for ten years. Most sprayers simply pass on the paint manufacturer’s guarantee (ask them about this) but in addition we also match it with a ten year guarantee on our work; so if the paint cracks, peels or fades we’ll respray it for free. BUT … you should note that as with any furniture, knocking it with something hard or sharp can chip it. This would happen with a brand new kitchen. But don’t worry, if this happens one of our sprayers will call round and touch it up for you, free of charge. Ask other sprayers if they do the same. The coyboys will always offer you a guarantee on the paint, but if they’ve used cheap plastic paint it won’t be worth the paper it’s written on. What will you do if they’re nowhere to be found and not answering the phone?
You can have any colour you like. ‘Anfield Red’ or ‘Toffee Blue’ to match your footie allegiance? ‘Canary Yellow’ if you originate from Norwich? Pure white to make the room bright and clean? Your wish is – literally – our command. We can also spray tiles and plaster walls to match or complement your new colour. Visit www.ralcolor.com or www.ralcolorchart.com to see the range of colours and pick an RAL code. Both sites have essentially the same content but it’s in a different format, you might prefer one over the other.
You can have Matt (10% shine), Satin (30%) or Gloss (70%). Most customers opt for the middle option and choose Satin, but it’s up to you.
Yes, the latest speciality paints will adhere to melamine, mdf and plastic.
Of course you can. In fact, we encourage it. But please note that we don’t supply them. And when shopping around, it will really help if you can find new handles that are the same size as the old ones so we can use the same holes, but if you can’t …. don’t worry about it. We’ll fill the old holes, sand the filler to give a perfect finish and then drill new ones. BUT … this will cost an extra £200 as it’s a lengthy process. Sometimes the holes need to be filled and sanded up to three times before they become invisible (spraying is unforgiving and will show up the slightest imperfection), and that takes time.
We accept cash, bank transfer, credit and debit cards and Paypal. Did you know that Paypal now allows you to spread the cost of anything over £99 interest-free over 4 months?
It really helps us if you can clean the kitchen and pull out any appliances because it saves time. However, if you live on your own and can’t manage it, don’t worry, we’ll do it for you. In addition, if you want the interior of your cupboards sprayed we ask that they’re emptied before we arrive. If you’re not having the insides sprayed you don’t need to do this; we’ll mask the cupboard and drawer interiors so you can leave the contents there. Anything on the worktops (kettle, toaster, breadbin, etc.) can be left in place, but we’d ask that anything breakable or valuable is removed.
We’re based in Liverpool but we cover Merseyside and the whole of the northwest. In fact, we’ve sometimes travelled much further afield and stayed overnight the evening before the job, so if you live elsewhere in the country don’t be afraid to ask for a quote.
It’s possible you’ve just been offered the deal of the century, but it’s much more likely your sprayer’s intending to cut corners somewhere: shoddy masking, old-fashioned sprayers, no sanding, cheap plastic paint, not removing the doors. The list is endless. It’s up to you whether you want to save a couple of hundred now only to have it all redone in five years time. Mind you, you can also be fleeced just as easily at the other end by paying over-the-odds unnecessarily. Watch this video to see the pitfalls to avoid when getting a quote.
